In the face of today’s environmental, social, and economic challenges, HELHa is committing to a transition towards becoming a more sustainable institution. The goal is to embed sustainable development into every dimension of institutional life.
This global initiative is structured around three main pillars: governance, teaching and research missions, and campus infrastructure and life.
Videos have been produced to showcase initiatives already underway within HELHa.
HELHa gives sustainable development a prominent place not only in its strategic choices but also at the heart of its governance structures. The aim is to integrate this dimension into the institution’s founding texts, regulations, action plans, charters, and communications.
HELHa aims to place sustainable development at the core of its primary mission: education. This means addressing both the major global challenges of sustainability and their specific applications within each curriculum. The objective is to train professionals capable of acting with awareness and responsibility in their respective fields.
HELHa envisions its campuses as not only places of learning but also hubs of transition. Adapting buildings, promoting active and sustainable mobility, improving food services, reducing the digital footprint, enhancing well-being. These are just some of the levers for changing habits and improving living environments in line with sustainability goals.
These three videos serve as a starting point for an open consultation involving the entire HELHa community. A questionnaire is currently collecting staff and student perceptions, expectations, and ideas related to these three pillars. The goal is clear: to collectively identify concrete, coherent actions tailored to real-world needs.
The results of this collective consultation will feed into the drafting of HELHa’s Transition Plan, a roadmap for building a sustainable future together.
