At HELHa, tourism is much more than a subject taught in the classroom. For five days, our Tourism and Leisure Management students left campus to enjoy a unique experience in the heart of Andalusia.
The goal? To deliver an individual 30-minute guided tour as part of the exam for the “Heritage and Guiding” course.
Córdoba, Seville, Málaga, or Cádiz, these cities no longer hold any secrets for our students. Each was tasked with preparing a visit in one of these iconic locations.
This immersion gave our future tourism professionals the chance to dive into the art of guiding by offering their peers a unique tour. It was an experience rich in both academic and cultural learning, where the guide learns just as much as the visitor.
During this trip, they acquired a wide range of essential skills for any tour guide.

Carefully planning the route? Like true professionals!
One of the most rewarding aspects of this type of exam lies in the opportunity for students to learn from one another, share knowledge, and give each other advice, creating a collaborative and supportive learning environment.
Both theoretical and practical, the course teaches mastery of tourism vocabulary, knowledge of artistic movements, and the recognition of world-famous tourist sites. The guiding exam immerses students in real-life, interactive situations.
