HELHa joins the DIEM project

HELHa is proud to join the DIEM project (Diversity and Inclusion in Erasmus Mobility), a European initiative that aims to make student mobility more accessible, particularly for students with fewer opportunities.

Towards more inclusive student mobility

Building on the success of the SIEM project, which sought to broaden participation in the Erasmus programme, DIEM continues this effort by promoting inclusive mobility across Europe.

The project brings together seven partners, with the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) acting as coordinator. Through surveys conducted with European institutions and students, the partners identified the main barriers faced by vulnerable groups. They also assessed existing inclusion measures and proposed harmonised solutions to strengthen equity.  DIEM has additionally developed a series of assessment tools for institutions and for the various actors involved in inclusion.

Practical tools for institutions

As part of the project, DIEM is launching a peer-learning community dedicated to inclusive mobility. Higher education professionals – working in international mobility, equality, diversity, inclusion, and student support services – collaborate to share expertise, test innovative approaches, and develop practical tools to support disadvantaged students.  HELHa is now one of the twenty or so institutions participating in this initiative.

A commitment already present at HELHa

The project was also presented during the Student Affairs Service meeting on Monday, 2 February, which focused on the theme of inclusion.

Thanks to the tools provided by DIEM, the financial and administrative support of the Erasmus+ programme, and the already strong collaboration between the different units of the Student Affairs Service, HELHa continues to strengthen its commitment to integrating inclusion into every level of the institution.
